The Chronological Marvel Journey - Part One: Weapon X, First Class.

Since re-subcribing to Marvel Unlimited last November, I set myself the challenge of reading Marvel Comics in chronological order, using a reading order I found online. I am currently on the third part of this and have decided to chronical the remaining seven parts here on the blog, as it will be a very long journey.

This new feature on the blog starts off with the most recent limited series that I have read - Weapon X: First Class, published between 2008-2009. The main story is 3 issues long, written by Marc Sumerak, with art by Mark Robinson. This story follows Wolverine and Professor Charles Xavier, as they attempt to uncover Wolverine's lost memories.

In Part One: Don't Look Back in Anger, Logan and Xavier venture in to the first part of his mind, where they encounter Sabretooth, a long standing villain of Logans. After a brief battle between them, it is revealed that this version of Sabretooth only exists in Logan's mind, and is the only person who is able to navigate the mindscape safely. In the end, they reach the Weapon X facility itself.

Part Two: Bad to the Bone focuses in on Logan's experience within the Weapon X program, and gets quite dangerous for Xavier at times, as Logan's rage begins to take hold. Eventually, the two of them are forced out of Logan's mind, and make the decision to leave the expedition for now, and allow Logan to cool off.

The third and final part, The Devil Inside, is where the revelations come to light for Logan. He is now completely alone in his mind, as Xavier did not want to run the risk of events repeating themselves. He travels through his memory of the Weapon X facility, coming into conflict with his past self, before reliving the memories of him massacring everybody in the facility.

All in all, this was an interesting mini-series, with the main story being solid, and the backup features in each issue being good also.

What I think I will do with this feature is to fully read each set of issues or arcs, and then review that arc or set of issues in one go, like I did with Classic Comics.
